The kids are finally back in school, which means I can finally sit down and start sharing everything from this past season—and I’ve been so excited to get this one up.
Charity and Eric’s engagement session at The Pearl in San Antonio was one of those mornings that just felt easy from the start. The kind where nothing feels rushed, nothing feels forced, and everything just falls into place the way it’s supposed to. Check out more of my engagement sessions here.
We met right at sunrise (my favorite, always), when everything is quiet and the light is soft in that really pretty, natural way you just can’t fake later in the day. It gives you space to slow down a bit, settle in, and just be present—and that’s exactly what we did.

Before their session, Charity told me how Eric proposed, and I already knew I was going to love them.
They were walking along the River Walk with their families on the way to lunch—nothing out of the ordinary—when she noticed people on a bridge holding a sign. At first it didn’t fully click, and then suddenly… it did.
Their best friends. The sign. The moment.
All of it hit at once.
And it was raining.
Honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect. A little chaotic, super emotional, and completely them.

If you’ve ever questioned doing a morning session, let me just say—this is why you do it.
The light that morning was so soft and clean. That kind of glow that wraps around everything and just makes people look like themselves, but better.
The Pearl gave us everything—open space, water, movement—and having Hotel Emma in the background added just enough character without taking anything away from them. It felt layered, intentional, and effortless all at the same time.

I didn’t have to do much directing, which is always my favorite.
Eric naturally pulls her in. Charity leans right into him. It’s comfortable, it’s easy, and you can feel it without anything needing to be said.
Of course we moved around a bit—the twirl, that dip (I mean… come on), walking along the water—but the moments I keep going back to are the quieter ones.
The in-between.
The way they look at each other when they think no one’s paying attention. The small laughs. The pauses.
That’s the good stuff. That’s what actually lasts.

They brought their sweet pups along, which I will always say yes to.
Now… one of them was definitely not thrilled about being up that early 😂 but somehow, you’d never know in the photos.
It just made everything feel more like them, which is always the goal with sessions like this.

If this session is any indication, their wedding at Hidden Falls is going to be something really special. Learn more about booking your wedding with me.
Charity and Eric—thank you for trusting me with this. For showing up exactly as you are and letting the whole thing feel natural. That’s what makes images like these possible.
Even though this session was in San Antonio, this is exactly how I want every session to feel—easy, relaxed, and actually true to you.
No overthinking. No pressure to “perform.”
Just showing up together and letting it unfold the way it’s supposed to.
If you’re planning something of your own, especially around Fredericksburg or Stafford, you already know I’m all in.
