We are in full swing over here with Weddings, Engagement sessions and Bridals! Today I’m I’m giving some of my tips to help you prepare yourself for your Bridal Session. It may simple, but a lot goes into your Bridal portraits. Finding the right location… Morning or Evening… Indoors or Outside.. the list goes on.
Preparing for Bridals
Make sure you plan enough time for getting ready. If you session starts at 7pm, make sure you speak with your hair + makeup and let them know you would need to be done by a certain time. Try your best to arrive early/on time to your Bridal Session. If you are wanting to capture that gorgeous evening light, its important to be on time.
Bring all your wedding day accessories. Your jewelry, shoes, veil and tiara. You really want to capture your “full” wedding day look at your Bridal session. Since you wont need to wear your wedding shoes throughout the entire Bridal session, I suggest bringing a pair of comfy shoes with you. You can swap out shoes when you need to.
Bring a close friend or family member to help out during your Bridal session. They can help with fluffing your dress or holding some of your accessories.
No matter how light your dress is… you WILL get hot! Make sure to bring a couple of bottles of water.
Location?! This is the fun the part. My favorite is outdoors in a woodsy-ish area during sunset. This is also my favorite time to photograph. Decide if you want something modern romantic indoors or romantic outdoors. Once you book your Bridal session with me, we’ll go over different options.
Pinterest. Oh Pinterest… while this is a a GREAT place to get photo “inspiration”, do not set your expectations to duplicate. I love having my brides create a “mood” board. This helps them to narrow down a “style” and gives me a better idea as to what they are going for.
Bridal should be FUN! So make sure to come relaxed and ready for some fun!
Hair + Makeup is so important for your Bridal Session. Please make sure to use a professional for your Hair + Makeup. If you need help finding someone, let me know and I can send you some referrals. I suggest you use the same person for your Bridals that you will be using on your wedding day.
You dress may get slightly dirty. As much as we try to avoid it.. dust and dirt will get on your dress. Most of the time its never anything anyone would notice.
Bugs love tulle. Bring some bug spray, just in case.
I hope you have found some of this tips helpful

– To photograph is to hold one’s breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It’s at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy. – Henri Cartier-Bresson
