A Luxury Indoor Photo Session
Elizabeth is the sweetest little girl I’ve ever known. She loves to sing and dance. She loves to read, she loves math and loves school (seriously, if she could go to school all year long she would!). She is an animal lover, and speaks both English and Spanish since she takes dual languages!
She’s also the best ballerina I’ve ever known, and has performed with the Moscow Ballet Great Russian Nutcracker, as well as performing in productions of Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty and more with the WC School for Ballet and Performing Arts!
Elizabeth is smart. She’s beautiful. And honestly? I couldn’t have asked for a better daughter! <3
The Story
As a busy wedding and portrait photographer, I don’t always get to have my family in front of my camera as often as I would like. So I was really happy when I got to convince Elizabeth one day to take a few photos! Girls loveeee to play dress-up, right? 🙂
We swung by the ballet store to get a few things, and while checking out I noticed a set of amazing, over-the-top false lashes. I grabbed them, and they became the basis for our glamorous indoor photo shoot. 🙂 Next, we ran into Joann Fabric’s to pick up some material for a project I was working on…and I noticed the most beautiful ruffled white fabric. Elizabeth loved it immediately, so we grabbed that too!
I had a Mr. Pretty skirt I had purchased for Elizabeth a month prior, so with the additional fabric, everything came together perfectly. And by the way – Mr. Pretty Skirts are AMAZING!!! They have a lot of fabric, the softest tulle, and flow just beautifully. I love to photograph them whenever I can! 🙂
The Set-Up
When we got home we immediately got ready to start the session. I already knew I wanted to shoot with my all-time favorite camera, the Canon Mark classic, and my 35 1.4L along with my Pentax 645NII with Fuji400 color film, and Illford Delta 400 for black and whites (it’s my favvve). Yay for film!! :).
The Session
I used all natural light for this session and placed Elizabeth where the window-light would hit her just at the right angle. The shadows on the left created a soft contrast that was just perfect for this style of session!
My daughter is not usually one to give big smiles for photos, so this session really fit her personality perfectly! She did most of the poses (She watches me edit from time to time… so I’m sure’s learned from that) herself, with just a little bit of guidance from me. I may be a bit biased of course, but I think she did absolutely beautifully. 🙂
I’m so excited to be sharing these photos with you, and hope you enjoyed hearing about our little project! 🙂 We have another little project in the works with Elizabeth and I cannot wait to share those! Now if only I could get my sweet Joshus in front of the camera 🙂
xoxo
